Due Corde
Due Corde was formed by Amelie Addison (cello) and Anne Marie Christensen (violin) in the spring of 2008 while both were studying at Trinity College of Music, London.
Due Corde exists to explore and promote wider appreciation both of the unique string sonorities and textures produced by the rarely revived practice of accompanying violin with cello alone, and of the many beautiful and intriguing but lesser-known 18th century works for violin and bass. Due Corde's approach of taking the written notation of these emotive pieces as a starting point for experimentation brings freshness to their performance.
Due Corde were winners of the Richard III Prize for Historical Performance 2009 at the Royal College of Music, and of Trinity College of Music Early Music Competition 2010, and their recitals have been well-received at the National Gallery and V&A, on tour in Denmark, and at the Greenwich International Early Music Festival 2010. Due Corde also perform in hospitals and community arts centres, and are devising education workshops for the National Trust.
Solo violin repertoire
As a solo violinist I have covered an extremely varied repertoire for the violin from the 17th century to the present day. Programs presented so far have included works by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Niccola Matteis, Giuseppe Tartini, Georg Philip Telemann, Eugene Ysaye, Allesandro Gorli and many others. Concerts can be a combination of baroque and modern violin as well as recitals focusing solely on baroque repertoire in particular on the works of J.S. Bach. Recitals with harpsichord accompaniment focus on the repertoire covered in my DMus research including works by Gaetano Pugnani and Giovanni Battista Viotti. As a concertmaster I have performed solos in works such as: J.S. Bach’s St. John’s Passion and the B minor Mass as well as Handel’s oratorios Solomon and Messiah.
